Student Reflections
"I participated in Hungry for Change on Feb 4th. Personally, I wasn't too excited about the idea of not eating for 24 hours (I'm sure no one was) as I am usually unable to stop eating for two hours. About halfway through, I started doubting my ability to continue as was getting easily irritated and tired. As the day went on, I became less able to focus on anything except the fact that I wanted to eat. Even after I got to eat, I was completely drained of energy and went straight to bed. It's hard to believe people and even children are forced to deal with this struggle on a day to day basis. The experience of participating in this was really eye opening and inspired me to want to continue to get involved with backpack buddies, so less families don't have to deal with this in our community. I know all the money we raised is going to an incredibly important cause that is in our community."
